Cork City Sports 2014
Kilcoe National School has a proud sporting tradition. We are closely connected to our local GAA team Ilen Rovers and many of our students play for the Ilen Rovers under-age teams. Some of our past pupils have even played in Croke Park with the Cork Senior football team.
Every year, as part of the PE curriculum we avail of the GAA Coaching in Schools Programme. This involves a coaching block of between 6 to 10 weeks where we learn skills in Gaelic Football and Hurling.
Every year we do a 6 week block of swimming lessons in Baltimore swimming pool.
Professional coaches provide blocks of lessons for all the classes in Golf, Tag Rugby and Dance.
We also enjoy entering competitions such as the Sciath na Scoil and the Cork City sports each year.
We acheived our first Active Flag in June 2015
The Cork City Sports takes place in Cork each June. We hold a school heat and the top two boys and girls in each age-group qualify to represent the school in the County Finals. We have had many prize-winners in the Cork City Sports in recent years.
GAA Skills Coaching
Coaches from the GAA come to the school where they teach us skills in football and hurling.
Our boys football team won the Sciath na Scol Finals in 2013 and 2014.
