Useful Maths Websites

Maths Week Ireland 2014 took place from 11th-19th October. It promotes awareness, appreciation and understanding of maths and is a great opportunity for schools to place an added emphasis on the importance of maths.

Here in Kilcoe we got involved by celebrating maths all around us. Children paired up for activites, we played maths games on the yard, engaged in quizzes and board games and some classes went on Maths trails.

Congratulations to the pupils from 2nd to 6th who participated in the target board competition on the maths week website. They completed a grand total of 6,280 maths operations during the week and featured on the daily leaderboard ,topping Fridays leader board in both the junior and senior section. The middle room came a successful 2nd place over all in Ireland in the junior board challenge and the senior room achieved 3rd place overall in the senior board challenge.  Not only did they have a great week of fun but they improved their maths skills as well.

This event contributes to the schools works towards the Discovery Primary Science and Maths  Award.
